Safety built in
into the fabric structure
FlameRetardant is a technology that gives fabrics enhanced resistance to ignition and the spread of fire caused by a smouldering cigarette, in accordance with PN-EN 1021-1:2014-12. This solution meets stringent safety standards and is used wherever the protection of people and property is a priority. It combines aesthetics and functionality with a strong commitment to safety.
How does it work?

Flame spread assessment with a smoldering cigarette
The standard defines the testing procedure in which upholstery materials (fabric and filling) are exposed to a smouldering cigarette as the ignition source. The test evaluates whether the combination of materials ignites easily or continues to smoulder slowly.

Test – specific test conditions
Under the PN-EN 1021-1:2014-12 standard, the test is performed using a specimen that replicates the corner of an upholstered piece of furniture—the area most vulnerable to fire. The assessment verifies that the fabric and filling do not continue to smoulder along the edges, do not allow the smouldering to spread, and remain safe one hour after the cigarette has been applied.

The significance of the results
Fabrics that pass the smouldering cigarette test provide confidence that they are resistant to accidental ignition from a cigarette, making their use in homes and public spaces significantly safer.

Cigarette test confirmed by PN-EN 1021-1:2014-12 standard and conducted by the Textile Research Institute in Łódź.
* Solutions such as FlameRetardant, which comply with the PN-EN 1021-1:2014-12 standard, enhance the safety of upholstered furniture by reducing the fabric's susceptibility to ignition from a smouldering cigarette. However, it should be noted that flame-retardant properties do not mean complete resistance to fire or protection against all ignition sources, such as open flames or high temperatures. To ensure safe use, fabrics should always be kept away from fire and used in accordance with basic fire safety guidelines.
